Things I can't exactly fit in character, so this is, as the title says, meta stuff. I just think it's neat. Also helps to have this in one place onsite.

Sorry Mayari (Not Really)

Of all the nations so far on Hangarin, Despit is probably the most American-inspired? It doesn't have much Pinoy inspiration compared to other places. That being said, cuisine is affected. Mayari wouldn't have eaten Filipino food until escaping Despit. She wasn't allowed to eat anything that wasn't Despit-approved.

Grilled cheese. Chips. Popcorn. Chicken nuggets. Curly Despit fries. Burgers. Pizza and pasta only prepared for Ringmaster Mirabelle's in-laws. TV dinners.

Garlic bread. Garlic bread. Garlic bread.

She can no longer stand any of those, and more. Am I swinging Very hard in the complete, opposite direction (those who know)? Yeah.

She also purposefully bastardizes those things. Dipping pizza in Nutella. Slathering burgers in disgusting blue syrup meant for pancakes.

It’s partially from her impulsive behavior and a way for her to rebel against the life she used to live. Unfortunately her body pays the price of these ungodly impulses.
