Hangarin in its infancy was a harsh planet, showing no mercy to the poor souls who called it home.

Mortals pleaded to the gods: help them survive, give them a chance to thrive.

Being the most familiar with the planet's surface, Danum terraformed better, more habitable shelters.

Pitying mortals' anguished cries, Kamatayan let the dearly departed rest in the afterlife, and taught mortals rituals to continue communications with one another.

Aldó and Búlan had different ideas. Rather than manipulating the terrain or providing respite, they both chose to bestow special gifts unto mortals themselves: innate talents and arcane magic.

Mortals utilized their newfound tools, adapting to their surroundings. Life on Hangarin prospered.

Inspired by Aldó and Búlan, Pamaragul wished to provide mortals its own gift, namely those who were neither innate nor arcane. After many failed attempts, the Creator of All successfully gave these mortals its divine blessing.

The gift bestowed unto mortals by Bulan which outwardly affects the world. Manipulation of the elements.

Examples: telekinesis, plant magic (agrokinesis), mind control

Early signs of magic show up as the wielder growing feverish. The body initially rejects magic, thinking it is an intrusion, until it goes, "oh okay, this new thing isn't harmful and will not kill me." Medicine has been developed to mitigate symptoms, help the body acclimate to magic... and also suppress magical aptitude. Plants, fungi, and minerals can possess supernatural properties.

Aldo, Bulan, and Pamaragul had to do a lot of trial and error. At first, they (unknowingly) overloaded mortals with their gifts, killing them.

Examples: mimicry, spatial recognition, eagle eye vision

Those who do not receive arcane magic or innate talents are instead given Blessings. These tend to manifest in being able to navigate social situations, and fortune for the Blessed.

It is possible for blessed parents to conceive an innately talented/magically arcane child if the recessive gene for either gift is present.

Example: Kaleb Acerbi, a magic user, came from Blessed mothers.

Likewise, innate/arcane parents may conceive a Blessed child if they have a recessive Blessed gene.

Example: Sagrado was not born with magic or innate talents, despite coming from a family of both.

They are more powerful than regular mortals, but are weaker than the gods.
